Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Body Ribbing: With 3.5 mm hook, ch 10. Row 1 (RS): 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, and 1 hdc in each remaining ch. Turn. [8 hdc] Row 2: ch 2 (does not count as st), work 1 hdc in the back loop (third loop) of each st across. Turn. Repeat Row 2 until the ribbing measures 53.5 (56, 58.5, 61) cm / 21 (22, 23, 24) inches. Do not turn.
Step 2
Body - Rows 1 to 4: Change to 4.0 mm hook. Row 1 (WS): ch 1, work 67 (71, 75, 79) sc evenly across the long straight edge of the ribbing. Turn. Row 2: ch 2, 1 hdc, 1 bobble stitch in next sc, *1 hdc in next 3 sc, 1 bobble in next sc. Repeat from * to the last sc, 1 hdc. Turn. Row 3: ch 2, hdc in each st across. Turn.
Step 3
Body - Height to Armhole: Row 4: ch 2, 1 hdc, 1 bobble, hdc in each st to last 2 sts, 1 bobble, 1 hdc. Turn. Row 5: ch 2, hdc in each st. Turn. Repeat the sequence of Rows 2 to 5 until the body measures 12.5 (14, 15, 16.5) cm / 5 (5.5, 6, 6.5) inches from the start of the ribbing, ending with a WS row.
Step 4
Armholes and Right Front: Dividing for armholes. Row 1 (RS): Work in pattern over the first 16 (17, 18, 19) sts. Turn, leaving the remaining stitches unworked. Continue working only over this right front panel until the armhole measures 6.5 (7.5, 8, 9) cm / 2.5 (3, 3.25, 3.5) inches, ending with a RS row.
Step 5
Right Neck Shaping: Row 1 (WS): Bind off/skip first 4 (4, 4, 5) sts at the neck edge, work in pattern to end. Turn. Row 2: Work in pattern to last 2 sts, dec (decrease). Turn. Repeat the decrease at the neck edge on every row until 8 (9, 10, 10) sts remain for the shoulder. Work even until shoulder matches the back height. Fasten off.
Step 6
Back Panel: With RS of the work facing, join yarn to the first unworked st of the body next to the right front. Row 1: Work in pattern over the next 35 (37, 39, 41) sts. Turn, leaving remaining sts unworked. Work in pattern over these back sts until it matches the height of the right front before neck shaping. Fasten off.
Step 7
Left Front and Neck: With RS facing, join yarn to the next unworked st next to the back. Row 1: Work in pattern over the last 16 (17, 18, 19) sts. Turn. Continue working this left panel symmetrically to the right front, decreasing for the neck at the opposite edge. Work until shoulder matches the right front height, then fasten off.
Step 8
Sleeves and Finishing: Sew shoulder seams. Sleeves (make 2): With 3.5 mm hook, ch 8, work ribbing in hdc for 16.5 (18, 19, 20.5) cm. Change to 4.0 mm hook, work sleeve body in hdc with side increases until it measures 18 (20.5, 21.5, 23) cm. Sew sleeves to armholes, and sew side and sleeve seams. Attach buttons and create buttonholes.
