Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Step 1

Materials and Sizes: To make the 3 bibs (19x34 cm), we will use Bernat Baby Softee Cotton yarn in feather gray, cotton color, and white with a 4.0 mm hook. Gauge is 5 sc and 6 rows = 2.5 cm. We also need a tapestry needle and heat-sealable velcro.

Step 2

Step 2

Bunny - Start and Body: With feather gray, ch 27. Row 1: starting on st 5 of the chart, work sc from right to left: feather gray to st 9, white from st 10 to 25, feather gray to end [26 sc]. Row 2: work sc following chart. Rows 3-9: increase 1 sc at each end on odd rows until you have 34 sc. Rows 10-28: work even [34 sc].

Step 3

Step 3

Bunny - Straps and Lining: Strap 1: work sc on the first 9 sts for 34 rows (to Row 62). Strap 2: join yarn in st 26 of Row 28 and work sc on the remaining 9 sts for 34 rows. For the inner lining, work a second complete bib in a solid color without the color chart to hide the floating back threads.

Step 4

Step 4

Checker - Start and Body: With feather gray, ch 27. Rows 1-2: work 26 sc changing to Cotton as indicated on the chart (bottom right corner). Rows 3-9: increase 1 sc at each end on odd rows to reach 34 sc. Rows 10-28: work even in sc following the color changes of the chart.

Step 5

Step 5

Checker - Straps and Edging: Strap 1: work sc on the first 9 sts to Row 62. Strap 2: join yarn in st 26 and work sc on the remaining 9 sts to Row 62. Fasten off. Work one round of sc around the entire edge of the bib (2 sc for every 2 horizontal sts and 2 sc for every 2 vertical rows).

Step 6

Step 6

Stripes - Start and Body: With feather gray, ch 27. Row 1: work 26 sc from right to left. Row 2: work 26 sc, introducing Cotton color on the last step of the stitch. Leave gray on the back. Rows 3-9: increase 1 sc at each end on odd rows to reach 34 sc, alternating colors following the chart. Rows 10-28: work even with 34 sc.

Step 7

Step 7

Stripes - Straps and Edging: Strap 1: sc on first 9 sts to Row 62. Strap 2: join in st 26 and sc on the remaining 9 sts to Row 62. Fasten off. Work one round of sc around the edge: work 2 sc for every 2 horizontal sts and 2 sc for every 2 vertical rows, adding 1 sc in the corners to keep the shape.

Step 8

Step 8

Assembly and Closure: For the bunny bib, place the main body and the solid lining with wrong sides facing and join them with sc around. For all bibs, apply heat-sealable velcro to the ends of the straps and press following the manufacturer's instructions. Your hypoallergenic bibs are ready!
