Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

PREP: Use metallic thread and 2.25 mm hook. Check gauge (18 sts = 4 cm). The base is ch 19.

Step 2

ROW 1 (Base): 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end. Turn. (18 sc).

Step 3

ROW 2 (Pattern): Ch 2, sk 3, Fan, ch 3, Fan* around first. Sk 1, 1 dc. Rep *. (6 Fans, 4 dc, 3 ch-3 sps).

Step 4

ROW 3 (Zigzag): Ch 2, Fan in 1st dc, sk Fan, 1 dc in ch-3 sp. Continue pattern. Turn. (6 Fans, 5 dc, 2 ch-3 sps).

Step 5

ROW 4: Ch 2, sk Fan and dc. [Fan, ch 3, Fan around prev Fan]. 1 dc in ch-3 sp. Repeat pattern.

Step 6

REPEAT: Repeat rows 4 and 5 until desired length is reached. (S: 46 repetitions / 97 total rows).

Step 7

FINAL ROW 1 (98/112/126/140/150): Ch 1, 1 sc, *sc2tog, 1 sc*. Rep * to end. Turn. (17 sts).

Step 8

FINAL ROW 2 (99/113/127/141/151): Ch 1, 2 sc, sc2tog, *2 sc, sc2tog*. Rep * to end. Fasten off. (13 sts).

Step 9

FINISHING 1: Cut grosgrain ribbon 1” longer than the belt. Fold and sew it to the wrong side for stability.

Step 10

FINISHING 2: Sew the two snap fasteners to the ends of the belt, leaving a 1” overlap.
