Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
BODY BASE: Start with 8 chains. Work 8 single crochets around the chain to get 16 stitches. This start will create the kitty's oval base.
Step 2
INCREASES: Work the increase rounds following the pattern (1 inc, 1 sc; then 2 sc, 1 inc; and finally 3 sc, 1 inc). You will finish with a flat circle of 40 stitches.
Step 3
FOLDING AND CLOSING: Fold the piece in half. We are going to close it by joining both sides with single crochets. This gives it that 'half-moon' shape that forms both the body and head at once.
Step 4
EARS: On the edge where you are joining, work the ear sequence: ch 2, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc in the same stitches to create the ear triangle.
Step 5
MUZZLE: In a separate magic ring, work 4 sc. Close the ring by gathering the bottom part to create a small oval shape. Leave a tail for sewing.
Step 6
FACE ASSEMBLY: Sew the muzzle on the lower center part. Glue or insert the 8 mm eyes just above the muzzle, leaving a 2 or 3 stitch gap.
Step 7
EMBROIDERY AND DETAILS: Use some black thread to embroider the whiskers and a small 'Y' for the nose. Apply a bit of blush or pink eyeshadow to mark the cheeks.
Step 8
CLASP: Open the lobster clasp ring and place it directly on one of the kitty's ears. Your mini Kawaii companion is ready to join you on your keys!
