Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Materials and Size: To crochet this soft plush baby scarf, we will use 2 skeins of plush yarn (100% Polyester; 50 g, 50 m each), one in self-striping/variegated color and one in solid white. Size 8.0 mm (US L-11) hook and a tapestry needle.

Step 2
Moss Stitch (Prep Row): With the first skein (variegated) and 8.0 mm hook, ch 14. Prep Row: work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * to the end and turn [13 sts]. Ch-1 spaces count as stitches.

Step 3
Moss Stitch (Row 1): Ch 1, work 1 sc in the first sc, *sc in the next ch-1 space, ch 1, skip next sc. Repeat from * to the last ch-1 space, work 1 sc in the ch-1 space, 1 sc in the last sc, turn.

Step 4
Moss Stitch (Row 2): Ch 1, work 1 sc in the first sc, *ch 1, skip next sc, sc in the next ch-1 space. Repeat from * to the last 2 sc, ch 1, skip next sc, 1 sc in the last sc, turn.

Step 5
Crocheting the Body: Repeat Row 1 and Row 2 alternately to form the Moss Stitch pattern. Work with the first variegated skein until it runs out. Join the second skein (solid white) and continue in the same Moss Stitch pattern until the skein is finished.

Step 6
Finishing: Once the second skein is finished or the desired scarf length is reached, fasten off. Use the tapestry needle to carefully weave in and secure all yarn tails inside the plush fabric. Your scarf is ready!
