Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
ABBREVIATIONS and NOTES: sc (single crochet), inc (increase), dec (decrease), dtr (double treble crochet), hdc (half double crochet). Work in spiral rounds. Use a stitch marker in the first st of each Rnd.
Step 2
TAIL (Beige or White): With chosen color, Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]. Rnds 2-19: 6 sc. Rnd 20: (1 sc, 1 dec) x 2 [4]. Do not stuff. Fasten off. (Optional: insert a 10 cm wire for shaping).
Step 3
HEAD and BODY (R 1-10): Start with beige yarn. R 1: 8 sc in magic ring [8]. R 2: 8 inc [16]. R 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) x 8 [24]. R 4: 1 sc, 1 inc, (2 sc, 1 inc) x 7, 1 sc [32]. R 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) x 8 [40]. R 6: 40 sc [40]. R 7: (9 sc, 1 inc) x 4 [44]. R 8: 44 sc [44]. R 9: 5 sc, 1 inc, (10 sc, 1 inc) x 3, 5 sc [48]. R 10: 48 sc [48].
Step 4
ROUND 11 (Tail Join and Popcorn Stitch): Fold the tail and join it to the body with 2 sc. Continue with 5 sc. Make 1 popcorn stitch (4 dtr in the same st). Repeat (11 sc, 1 popcorn stitch) x 3. Finish with 4 sc [48].
Step 5
BODY (R 12-14 - Decreases): R 12: 5 sc, 2 dec, (8 sc, 2 dec) x 3, 3 sc [40]. R 13: 4 sc, 2 dec, (6 sc, 2 dec) x 3, 2 sc [32]. R 14: 3 sc, 2 dec, (4 sc, 2 dec) x 3, 1 sc [24].
Step 6
STUFFING and CLOSURE (R 15-16): Stuff the cat body firmly. R 15: 2 sc, 2 dec, (2 sc, 2 dec) x 3 [16]. R 16: 8 dec [8]. Cut a long yarn end and close the remaining hole using a tapestry needle.
Step 7
EYES and DETAILS: Embroider the eyes with black yarn on Rnd 8, 6 sts apart. Embroider the nose and whiskers with black yarn. (Optional: Use blush powder on the nose and cheeks for color).
Step 8
EARS (Make 2): Crocheted directly onto the head. Mark 3 sts across Rnds 3, 4, and 5. Insert hook into the first marked st. Ch 4. Skip 2 ch. 1 sc in the 3rd ch. 1 hdc in the next ch. Skip the 2nd marked st. 1 sc in the 3rd marked st. Fasten off and weave in the ends. Repeat on the opposite side.
