Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
CAKE (BASE - Start): With Almond yarn. R1-R4: 6 sc in MR (6); 6 inc (12); [1 sc, 1 inc] x6 (18); [1 sc, 1 inc, (2 sc, 1 inc) x5, 1 sc] (24). R5: 24 sc in back loop only (for direction change).

Step 2
CAKE (BASE - Sides and End): R6-R9: [7 sc, 1 inc] x3 (27); [8 sc, 1 inc] x3 (30); [9 sc, 1 inc] x3 (33); [5 sc, 1 inc, (10 sc, 1 inc) x2, 5 sc] (36). R10: 36 sc. R11: ch 1, 1 sl st in front loop only around. Fasten off.

Step 3
FROSTING (Back Loop Layer): With White yarn, in MR. R1-R6 (back loop only): 6 sc (6); 6 inc (12); [1 sc, 1 inc] x6 (18); [2 sc, 1 inc] x6 (24); [3 sc, 1 inc] x6 (30); [2 sc, 1 inc, (4 sc, 1 inc) x5, 2 sc] (36). Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Step 4
FROSTING (Front Loop Layer): Join White yarn in the front loop of R2 of the back layer. R1-R4: [1 sc, 1 inc] x9 (18); [2 sc, 1 inc] x6 (24); [3 sc, 1 inc] x6 (30); [2 sc, 1 inc, (4 sc, 1 inc) x5, 2 sc] (36). R5: 36 sc. Fasten off.

Step 5
CHERRY (Body and Stem): With Tulip yarn, R1-R4: 6 sc in MR (6); [1 sc, 1 inc] x3 (9); R3-R4: 9 sc. Stuff firmly. Stem (Brigadeiro): ch 9 tightly. Insert into the cherry leaving 8 ch visible. Sew the tip into the back loop of R4.

Step 6
CHERRY FROSTING (Decorative Detail): With Tulip yarn. R1-R4: 6 sc in MR (6). R2: [1 sc, 1 Mini Berry in same st] x6 (12). R3: [1 sc, 1 Mini Berry in same st] x12 (24). R4: [1 sc, 1 Mini Berry in next st, (1 sc, 1 Mini Berry in same st) x2] rep x6 (36). Fasten off, leave long tail.

Step 7
FINAL ASSEMBLY: Sew the Frosting (White) to the remaining loop of R10 of the Cake (Almond), stuffing before closing. Sew or glue the Cherry (Tulip) and its Frosting detail (Tulip) to the center top of the cupcake. Finished!
