Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
HEAD: Start with light brown yarn working 7 foundation sc. Increase to 24 sc and work straight until round 15. In round 16, create the neck extension using a 13-stitch chain integrated into the fabric.

Step 2
BODY AND BASE: After reaching 52 sc, work the body base using back loops (BLO). For the bottom, add an increase round (104 sc) to allow the snail to stand firm. Stuff and sew the sides closed.

Step 3
STARTING THE TWO-TONE SHELL: This is the most technical part. Use ginger (A) and flamingo (B) yarns simultaneously in the same magic ring. Work basic stitches (sc, hdc, dc) with both colors without fully closing the stitches.

Step 4
SHELL SPIRAL: Alternate between color A and B, working increases of one color over the stitches of the opposite color. Follow the double crochet increase sequence until 16 rounds are completed. Make two identical bases.

Step 5
SHELL JOINING: Place the wrong sides of both bases together. Join them with slip stitches using the matching color for each section. Before closing, insert the squeaker and some stuffing for volume.

Step 6
EYES AND EYELIDS: Crochet white spheres for the eyes and insert safety eyes. For the eyelids (cloud color), crochet hemispheres that cover the top part of the white eye, giving it that sleepy or cute expression.

Step 7
TENTACLES AND EMBROIDERY: Crochet two strips of 9 foundation sc. For poseable tentacles, insert a piece of aluminum wire before sewing them to the head. Embroider the mouth in flamingo color with a simple stitch.

Step 8
FINAL ASSEMBLY: Sew the shell centered over the body. Glue the eyelids to the eyes with liquid silicone and then attach the eyes to the top of the head. Ensure all yarn ends are well hidden.
