Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

BASE SIDE PANEL: Start with a magic ring and crochet 5 rounds of double crochet. It's crucial to always work in the back loops (BLO), leaving the front loops free, as we will mount the rose on them later.

Step 2

PREPARATION ROUNDS: On the front loops of rounds 1, 2, and 3, create chain arches (ch 3 and 6). These chains will serve as the skeleton or base for crocheting the petals of each rose layer.

Step 3

CENTRAL PETALS (LAYER 1): In the arches of round 1, work groups of [2 hdc, slip stitch]. This will create the 6 small petals at the heart of the rose.

Step 4

INTERMEDIATE PETALS (LAYER 2): In the 6-ch arches of round 2, crochet larger petals using the sequence: sc, hdc, 2 dc, tr (treble crochet), 2 dc, hdc, sc. You will get 5 defined petals.

Step 5

OUTER PETALS (LAYER 3): For the final layer, use 4 treble crochets (tr) in the center of each arch to add volume. Make sure to stagger the petals relative to the previous layer for a natural look.

Step 6

GUSSET AND HANDLE: Crochet a long strip of single crochet that starts narrow (4 sc), widens in the center (6 sc) for the bag base, and narrows again to form the continuous handle.

Step 7

SIDE ASSEMBLY: Align the gusset with the two circular panels (the rose one and the plain one). Use a yarn needle and soft thread to sew with whipstitch, joining only the inner loops for an invisible seam.

Step 8
