Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

MATERIALS: 2 skeins of shiny nautical thread, 7.0 mm hook, 2 rectangular metal handles, 1 magnetic button, and lining fabric.

INTRODUCTION: The bag is formed by 2 large circular motifs. Start the first motif.

Step 3

ROUND 1: Ch 4, close with sl st. Work 12 dc inside the ring. Close with sl st. (= 12 dc).

Step 4

ROUND 2: Ch 3 (as 1 dc), 1 dc in the same st, and 2 dc in every st of the previous round. Close with sl st. (= 24 dc).

Step 5

ROUND 3: *1 dc, 1 inc.* (2 dc in the same st). Repeat until the end. Close with sl st. (= 36 dc).

Step 6

ROUND 4: *2 dc, 1 inc.* Repeat throughout the round. Close with sl st. (= 48 dc).

Step 7

ROUND 5: *3 dc, 1 inc.* Repeat throughout the round. Close with sl st. (= 60 dc).

ROUND 6: *4 dc, 1 inc.* Repeat throughout the round. Close with sl st. (= 72 dc).

MOTIF: The motif should measure about 30 cm in diameter. Make 2 identical motifs, repeating Rounds 1 through 12.

HANDLE PLACEMENT: During R12 of each motif, when reaching the top, work 10 sc around the bottom part of the metal handle to secure it. Remata el hilo.

SIDE STRIP (Row 1): With the same thread, ch 5 + ch 3 to turn (equivalent to the 1st dc).

SIDE STRIP (Length): Work in straight rows in dc until obtaining 70 cm in length (this will be the bag's depth). Fasten off.

FINISHING (Joining): Join the 2 circular motifs to the side strip with 1 round of sc around the entire edge.

FINISHING (Opening): Leave 10 cm unsewn at the top, right where the handle is, for the bag's opening.

LINING: Line the bag with the chosen fabric to give it better structure and internal finish.

MAGNETIC BUTTON: Place the magnetic button on the inside, about 2 rounds away from the edge and centered with respect to the handle.
