Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Round Panels - R1: Start with a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as the first dc) and work 11 dc into the ring. Close with 1 sl st in the third starting ch. [12 dc]
Step 2
Round Panels - R2: Ch 3 and work 1 dc in the same base st. Work 1 dc inc in each of the remaining stitches. Close with 1 sl st. [24 dc]
Step 3
Mesh Stitch - R3: Ch 1, work 1 sc in the first st, ch 4, skip 1 st, 1 sc in the next st. Repeat the sequence of (ch 4, skip 1 st, 1 sc) to the end. Close the round with ch 2 and 1 dc in the first sc to end in the center of the loop. [12 mesh loops]
Step 4
Mesh Stitch - R4: Work 1 sc in the current loop, ch 5, work 1 sc in the next loop of the previous round. Repeat (ch 5, 1 sc in the next loop) around. Close with ch 2 and 1 dc in the starting sc. [12 loops]
Step 5
Mesh Stitch - R5: Work 1 sc in the current loop, ch 5, work 1 sc in the same loop (mesh increase), ch 5, work 1 sc in the next loop. Repeat this sequence alternating an increase and a single loop around. Close with ch 2 and 1 dc in the starting sc. [18 loops]
Step 6
Mesh Stitch - R6 to R12: Work 1 sc in the current loop, ch 5, work 1 sc in the next loop. Repeat continuously around, maintaining the mesh structure without adding any extra increases. Close each round with ch 2 and 1 dc in the starting sc. [18 loops]
Step 7
Edge and Joining: For R13, ch 1 and work 3 sc inside each ch-5 loop from the previous round to stabilize the edge. Close with 1 sl st. For R14, work 1 sc in each st around. Place the two circles with right sides facing out, align the stitches, and sew them together st-by-st taking only the inner loops with a tapestry needle, leaving 6 loops open for the bag mouth.
Step 8
Bag Handles: Attach the yarn to one end of the opening. Work 1 sc, ch 70 (or desired length), skip to the other end of the same panel and secure with 1 sc. Turn and work 1 sc in each chain to add thickness. Repeat the same process on the opposite panel for the second handle. Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
