Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
START: Begin by making 8 chain stitches (ch) with the 5.5mm hook to form the base of the soap saver.

Step 2
ROW 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 5. 3 sc in last ch. On other side, skip 1st ch, 5 sc, 2 sc in last. Join with sl st to first sc (16 sc).

Step 3
ROW 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same st. *Skip next sc, 3 dc in next sc; repeat from * 6 times. Skip last sc and join with sl st (24 dc).

Step 4
ROWS 3-7: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, 2 dc in same st. *Skip next 2 dc, 3 dc in next dc; repeat from * until end. Join with sl st to beg ch.

Step 5
ROW 8 (Part 1): Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 13 dc. This prepares the top edge before creating the button loop.

Step 6
ROW 8 (Part 2): In next dc work (sc, ch 10, sl st). Sc in remaining dc and join with sl st. You will have 24 sc and 1 button loop of 10 chains.

Step 7
FINISHING: Flatten piece with loop centered at back. Sew button to front center below top edge. Weave in ends and insert the soap.

Step 8
FINAL: Fasten the loop over the button to close the saver. Now your soap is ready to be used with a rustic and practical style.
