Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Start by chaining 54 plus 1 turning chain for the blanket section. From the second chain, work the false English rib stitch. Details follow.

Step 2
Insert the hook through the stitch to grab the yarn that will be used to close the loops.

Step 3
Make the three loops and close them with the last yarn loop left on the hook.

Step 4
At the start of each row, chain 1 and work into that same first stitch. Always crochet through the inner loop. Work a total of 49 rows.

Step 5
Add a crab stitch border to the blanket to create a raised texture. The approximate size is 30x30.

Step 6
Using a 3 mm hook, start with a magic ring of 7 single crochets. For the second round, make an increase in each stitch (12).

Step 7
Round 3: sc, increase (18). Round 4: sc, increase (27). Rounds 5–6: sc in each stitch (27).

Step 11
Stuff the head gradually and evenly. Round 18: 3 sc, decrease (18). Round 19: 2 sc, decrease (12).

Step 12
Round 20: 1 sc, decrease (6). Round 21: 5 decreases. Cut the yarn and close the head.

Round 2: increase in each stitch (12). Round 3: 1 sc, increase (18). Round 4: 2 sc, increase (24).

Step 15
Round 5: 3 sc, increase (30). Round 6: 4 sc, increase (36). Rounds 7–13: sc in each stitch (36).

Step 16
Round 14: crab stitch. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew to the head. Pin the piece in place to keep it from moving.

Step 17
Start the legs with white yarn. Round 1: magic ring with 6 single crochets.

Step 18
Round 2: increase in each stitch (12). Round 3: 1 sc, increase (18). Round 4: sc in each stitch (18). Stuff gradually to shape. Switch to cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook.

Step 19
Rounds 5–10: sc in each stitch (18). Round 11: 1 sc, decrease (12). Rounds 12–27: sc in each stitch (12). In the final section of the leg, add minimal stuffing to keep it flexible.

Step 20
Round 28: 5 decreases. Cut the yarn leaving a long tail and close with a yarn needle. Pass the remaining tail through each stitch to close the leg.

Step 21
Start the ears (2 pieces joined with white yarn). Round 1: magic ring with 6 single crochets.

Step 22
Round 2: increase in each stitch (12). Round 3: 1 sc, increase (18). Round 4: 2 sc, increase (24). Round 5: 3 sc, increase (30). Cut the yarn and weave in the end.

Step 23
For the ear's hair part, start with a magic ring of 6 single crochets.

Step 24
Round 2: increase in each stitch (12). Round 3: 1 sc, increase (18). Round 4: 2 sc, increase (24). Round 5: sc in each stitch (24).

Step 25
Without cutting the yarn, join the two ear parts with inner sides facing each other. Insert the hook through both layers and chain 1 to secure.

Step 26
From the next stitch, work slip stitch in each stitch until the round is complete. Leave a long tail to sew to the head, cut, and fasten off.

Step 27
Sew the ears, pinning them in place to ensure symmetry. Make a few stitches only at the base so they are not completely flat against the head.

Step 28
Sew the legs under the head, leaving a couple of centimeters between them. Pin in place and stitch from both the inside and outside.

Step 29
Embroider the eyes, nose, and mouth using two strands of thread. For depth, pass the thread from one eye to the other and gently pull to sink the area.

Step 30
Place the blanket under the sheep’s body, ensuring the rows form a vertical V. Sew the sheep to the corner where the pattern forms the V.

Step 31
Add optional pom-poms and sew them to the blanket’s corners.
