Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
HEAD AND BODY (Part 1): With beige yarn, start a MR of 8 sc. Increase progressively until reaching 40 sc (R5). Work straight from R6 to R13. Place 14mm eyes at R10-11 before closing.

Step 2
BODY (Part 2): Decrease for the neck (R16 with 12 sc). Switch to mustard color. Use BLO in R17 and FLO in R18 to create volume for the shirt. Switch to green at R23 to finish the body base.

Step 3
EARS (x2): With beige yarn, ch 7. Skip first ch and work: 1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc. Sew to the sides of the head between rounds 5 and 7.

Step 4
ARMS (x2): Start in beige (R1-R9) with 8 sc and slight increases. Switch to mustard at R10 (BLO). Stuff the hand lightly and keep the top flat. Sew between rounds 18-19 of the body.

Step 5
LEGS (x2): Start with pink (shoe). ch 6 and work around (16 sc). After instep decreases (R5), switch to green for the leg. Work until R18 and sew to the body base.

Step 6
STRIPED HAT: Start in pink, then alternate every 2 rounds between red and white. Increase 3 stitches every two rounds to achieve a long conical shape until reaching 48 sc. Finish with a brown shell stitch border.

Step 7
SHORTS: ch 28 in pink. After 4 sc rounds, divide the work into two sections of 14 sc (+ 6 joining ch) to create the leg openings. Work 3 rounds for each leg.

Step 8
FINAL DETAILS: Put the shorts on the gnome and add the cross strap over one shoulder. Attach the hat to the head (you can add a bit of stuffing to keep the shape) and embroider eyebrows if desired.
