Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
BASE (R1-R2): With carmine yarn, start a MR. R1: 8 sc. R2: [1 csc (center single crochet), 1 triple inc] x4 (16 sts). Use invisible join for every round.
Step 2
BASE (R3-R6): Continue increasing following the square shape. R3: 2 csc, [1 triple inc, 3 csc] x3, 1 triple inc, 1 csc (24). Continue until R6 following the base chart.
Step 3
TRANSITION: R7: On the wrong side of the piece, work 1 sl st in each base stitch. This will create a firm edge to start the walls. Fasten off the carmine yarn.
Step 4
SIDE (R1-R2): Join white yarn over the sl sts of the last round. Work 48 csc per round. Keep tension even so the basket doesn't lose its shape.
Step 5
TAPESTRY (R3): Join pink-love. With white work 18 csc, switch to pink and work 2 csc, back to white for 9 csc, pink for 2 csc and finish with 17 white csc.
Step 6
FACE DESIGN: Continue the sides following Chart 2. Remember to finish the stitches with the new color so the transition is clean. Fasten off after finishing the design.
Step 7
THE HAT: Join carmine yarn on the right side. Work in back and forth rows: R1: 13 sc. R2: 1 sl st, 11 sc. R3: 1 sl st, 9 sc. Follow Chart 3 until the tip is finished.
Step 8
FINAL DETAILS: Embroider eyes with gray and nose with pink-love. Add the mouth with thin carmine thread. Finish with a round of sl st on the top edge of the basket.
