Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
PLACEMAT BASE (R1-R3): Using white yarn and 3.5 mm hook, start with a MR. R1: ch 3, 13 sc (14). R2: ch 3, 1 sc in same st, 13 inc (28). R3: ch 3, 1 inc, *1 sc, 1 inc* x12. Close with sl st.

Step 2
PLACEMAT BASE (FINAL): Continue working in the round, increasing proportionally following Diagram 1 until reaching the desired diameter (approx. 37-40 cm). Fasten off and weave in the end.

Step 3
CHEEKS (x2): Using Organza yarn and 2.5 mm hook, in MR: R1: 6 sc. R2: 6 inc (12). R3: *1 sc, 1 inc* x6 (18). Close with sl st and set aside for assembly.

Step 4
EARS - LAYER 1 (x2): Using white yarn and 3.5 mm hook, ch 15 + 1 to turn. Work in rows decreasing 1 stitch at each end following Diagram 3 up to row 14. R15: sc around the entire piece.

Step 5
EARS - LAYER 2 (x2): Using Organza yarn and 2.5 mm hook, repeat the Layer 1 process (15 base ch) following Diagram 4. Since the yarn and hook are smaller, the piece will fit proportionally inside.

Step 6
DECORATIVE FLOWERS (x3): Using lilac yarn and 2.5 mm hook, ch 40. R1: from 7th ch, *1 sc, ch 3, skip 2* repeat x10. Follow the petals diagram, roll the strip, and sew the base to form the flower.

Step 7
EMBROIDERY: Using black yarn and yarn needle, embroider the eyes (two curved lines) and the nose (inverted triangle) in the center of the white base. Add some small whiskers if desired.

Step 8
FINAL ASSEMBLY: Sew the cheeks to the sides of the nose. Join the ear layers and attach them to the top. Finally, sew the 3 flowers near one of the ears. Ready to use!
