Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Body (Start): With yellow yarn, ch 14. Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch and in each ch, turn (13 sc). Row 2: Ch 1, 5 dc-cl in first st, *sc in next, 5 dc-cl in next, repeat. Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc, 1 sc in each st, 2 sc at the end. Rows 4-6: Continue alternating cl and sc increases.

Step 2
Body (Middle): Row 7: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st. Row 8: Ch 1, 1 sc, *5 dc-cl, 1 sc, repeat. Row 9: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st. Row 10: Ch 1, 5 dc-cl, *sc in next, 5 dc-cl in next, repeat.

Step 3
Body (Continuation): Rows 11 to 20: Repeat the sequences from rows 7 to 10 to finish texturing the body.

Step 4
Body (End): Rows 21 to 27: Continue alternating rows of sc with decreases at the ends (sc2tog) and rows of cl (5 dc-cl), until 9 sc remain. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Step 5
Leaf A (make 1): With green yarn, ch 8. Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch. Rows 2-13: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st. Row 14: Ch 1, sc2tog, 3 sc, sc2tog. Row 15: Ch 1, sc2tog, 1 sc, sc2tog. Row 16: Ch 1, sc3tog. Edging: sl st evenly around, working 3 sc in corners. Fasten off.

Step 6
Leaf B (make 4): Ch 5. Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch. Rows 2-10: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st. Row 11: Ch 1, sc2tog twice. Row 12: Ch 1, sc2tog. Edging same as leaf A. Fasten off.

Step 7
Leaf C (make 1): Ch 6. Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch. Rows 2-9: Ch 1, 1 sc. Row 10: Ch 1, sc2tog, 1 sc, sc2tog. Row 11: Ch 1, sc3tog. Edging same as leaf A. Fasten off.

Step 8
Leaf D (make 1): Ch 6. Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch. Rows 2-7: Ch 1, 1 sc. Row 8: Ch 1, sc2tog, 1 sc, sc2tog. Row 9: Ch 1, sc3tog. Edging same as leaf A. Fasten off.

Step 9
Assembly (Step 1): Place leaf A face down and place a leaf B on each side, angling slightly outwards. Fold bottom corners. Sew at the bottom through all leaves to secure.

Step 10
Assembly (Step 2): Place Leaf C on top, ensuring bottom alignment and sew. Repeat with two other Leaves B on each side. Then place Leaf D and sew. Fasten off. Sew the leaf cluster to the back of the pineapple body.
