Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Abbreviations: ch = chain, dc = double crochet, sc = single crochet, sl st = slip stitch. V-Stitch: (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in the same stitch.

Step 2
Preparation: This 46x50 inch blanket is worked flat in rows. Change color on the last pull-through of the last stitch of a row. Use a 6.5 mm hook.

Step 3
Row 1: With main color (MC), ch 137. 1 dc in the 4th ch from hook and in the next. *Skip 2 ch, V-Stitch in next*. Repeat until 4 ch remain.

Step 4
Row 1 (Cont.): Skip 2 ch, 1 dc in each of the last 2 ch. Turn, drop MC and join contrasting color 1 (C1). (You will have 44 V-stitches and 2 dc).

Step 5
Row 2: (With C1) ch 3 (counts as first dc), 1 dc in the next dc. *V-Stitch in the ch-1 space of the next V-Stitch*. Repeat until 2 dc remain.

Step 6
Row 2 (Cont.) & next: 1 dc in each of the last 2 dc. Turn, drop C1 and join MC. Rows 3-44: Repeat Row 2 alternating colors. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Step 7
Border: Join MC in any corner with 1 sl st. Rnd 1: ch 1, work sc evenly around the edge. In the corners work (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc). Join with sl st to first sc.
