Stitch Guide: Magic Ring: Wrap yarn twice, ch 1. Standing Double Crochet (standing dc): slip knot, yarn over, insert and work as a dc.
Step 2
Motifs (make 9): Round 1: Make magic ring. 8 sc in ring, join with sl st - 8 sc.
Step 3
Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each remaining st, join with sl st - 16 dc. Cut center yarn.
Step 4
Round 3: Join petal color with standing dc, 2 dc in same st, *ch 1, skip 1, 3 dc in next; rep. Join with sl st - 8 groups of 3 dc.
Step 5
Round 4 (worked in R2 with R3 pushed back): Join border color, *ch 4, dc in next unworked st of R2; rep. Join with sl st - 8 dc and 8 ch-4 sps.
Step 6
Round 5 (worked in R3): Under ch-4 sp of R4 pick up loop of R3, ch 3, 2 dc in next st of R3, dc in next, *ch 2, dc in next, 2 dc in next, dc in next; rep. Join with sl st.
Step 7
Round 6: Under ch-2 sp of R5 pick up loop of R4, ch 3, dc in same st, *ch 5, 2 dc in next st of R4; rep. Join with sl st.
Step 8
Round 7: Under ch-5 sp of R6 pick up loop of R5, ch 3, 2 dc in next st of R5, dc in next 2, *ch 2, dc in next, 2 dc in next, dc in next 2; rep. Join with sl st - 5 dc groups.
Step 9
Round 8: Continue with petal color, ch 1, sc, skip 1, 5 dc, skip 1, sc, ch 2*, sc in next; rep. Join with sl st - 8 rounded petals. Cut yarn.
Step 10
Round 9: Insert hook under ch-2 sps of R7-8 pick up loop of R6, ch 3, 2 dc, then behind petal sts 5 dc in ch-5 sp of R6... 64 dc.
Step 11
Round 10: Ch 1, sc, sc, *hdc, dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) corner, dc, hdc, 11 sc; rep. - 76 sts.
Step 12
Round 11: Ch 3, *dc in each st to ch-2 sp, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in sp; rep. Join with sl st - 92 dc. Cut yarn.
Step 13
Finishing: Using the color scheme as a guide, join the motifs with single crochet using the background/border color.
