Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Assign a letter to each yarn from A to C. I will use: Coral (A), Cream (B) and Pale Turquoise (C)

Step 2
Cut 1m of yarn A to set aside. Make a slip knot at the end, insert the hook through the knot and tighten. Chain 4.

Step 3
Close in the first chain with a slip stitch. Now you have the main circle where the first round will start.

Step 4
Round 1: Chain 3 and crochet 4 double crochets into the ring. Then chain 2 and make 5 more DC. Leave a tail to join the next color.

Step 5
Turn the work and switch to yarn B. Chain 1 and make 1 single crochet. Crochet 1 SC into each stitch until you reach the 2-chain space.

Step 6
In the 2-chain space, crochet 2 SC, chain 2, and 2 SC. Continue crocheting until 1 stitch remains and make 2 SC together.

Step 7
Turn the piece right side up and change to yarn C. Cut the previous yarn, secure the new yarn with a small loop to hold it in place.

Step 8
Chain 3 and make 1 DC in the same stitch (first increase). Then, 1 DC in each stitch until you reach the 2-chain space. Cut the excess yarn.

Step 9
In the 2-chain space, crochet 2 DC, 2 chains, and 2 DC. Repeat on the other side: 1 DC in each stitch and 2 DC together in the last stitch.

Step 10
Repeat rounds 2 and 3, alternating colors: round 2 with yarn C and round 3 with yarn A, until completing about 13 rounds.

Step 11
With the main body finished, start crocheting the strap. Do not cut the yarn; from one end, chain 50 (or as many as needed for your pet’s neck).

Step 12
At the end of the chains, make 1 turning chain and crochet 1 SC into each chain starting from the second.

Step 13
With the strap finished, continue crocheting along the top of the bandana. Make 3 SC on each side of DC and 1 SC on each side of SC.

Step 14
In the center of the bandana, make just one SC and continue the pattern until the edge is complete.

Step 15
When you reach the other end, use the yarn you set aside at the beginning. Insert the hook into the bandana’s end, catch the yarn, and pull it through.

Step 16
Repeat the same structure as on the other side: crochet the required number of chains and close with SC along the strap.
