Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Materials and Sizing: We will use WeCrochet Fable Fur (super bulky; Color A: Paloma - 4 skeins, Color B: Volpe - 4 skeins, Color C: Maja - 3 skeins). 8 mm hook. Fiberfill stuffing. Finished measurements: 30" long x 20" wide (76 x 51 cm).
Step 2
Pillow Cover: ch 36. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, 4 sc in last ch. Turn to work along opposite side of ch, sc across, 3 sc in last ch [74 sc]. Work sc in continuous spiral, changing colors every 2 rows until the cover fits the pillow. Insert pillow and join edges with sl st.
Step 3
Adding the Border: Worked directly onto the pillow cover. With Color A, sc along one short side, then along a straight marked line on the long side (using markers for corners), and along the opposite short side. ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. Repeat until you have completed 10 rows.
Step 4
Corner Shaping and Rows: Row 11 (dec): ch 1, sc to 1 st before first marker, sc3tog over next 3 st, place marker on center st. sc to 1 st before next marker, sc3tog, sc to end. Turn. Repeat this decrease row pattern until 10 decrease rows are complete (20 border rows total). Fasten off leaving a very long tail.
Step 5
Assembly and Stuffing: Measure 12 rows from the short side and 15" from the corner to the front. Sew the border to the pillow with the long tail. Sew halfway, stuff firmly with fiberfill, then continue sewing and stuffing until the border is closed. Fasten off and weave in ends.
