PREP: 5.5 mm hook. Check gauge (14 sc x 16 rows = 4”). The scarf is worked lengthwise (44½” long).

CHAIN: Chain 141. The first row will be worked into the bottom bumps of the starting chain.

ROW 1 (RS): Into bottom bumps: 28 Hdc, 84 Sc, 28 Hdc. Turn. (Total: 140 sts).

ROW 2 (WS): Ch 1 (does not count). Work ONLY in the Back Loop Only (B/LO): 28 Hdc, 84 Sc, 28 Hdc. Turn.

ROWS 3-12: Repeat Row 2 for 10 more times. This creates the keyhole band with a ribbed texture.

FINISHING: Weave in all loose ends with the tapestry needle. Block the scarf to its final measurements for shaping.
