Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Make a foundation chain, and since this is the first stitch, work into the 4th chain from the start to offset the stitch height. It is marked in a darker shade for distinction.

Step 2

Yarn over the hook.

Step 3

Insert the hook into the stitch of the foundation chain.

Step 4

Yarn over again and pull it through the chain stitch.

Step 5

There are three loops on the hook.

Step 6

Yarn over again.

Step 7

Pull the yarn through two loops on the hook.

Step 8

There are two loops on the hook.

Step 9

Yarn over one last time.

Step 10

Pull the yarn through the remaining two loops on the hook.

This completes the double crochet stitch.
