Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Make a foundation chain, and since this is the first stitch, work into the 5th chain from the start to offset the stitch height. It is marked in a darker shade for distinction.

Step 2

Yarn over the hook twice.

Step 3

Insert the hook into the stitch of the foundation chain.

Step 4

Yarn over again and pull it through the chain stitch.

Step 5

There are 4 loops on the hook.

Yarn over again.

Step 7

Pull the yarn through two loops on the hook.

Step 8

There are three loops on the hook.

Step 9

Yarn over again.

Step 10

Pull the yarn through two loops on the hook.

Step 11

There are two loops on the hook.

Step 12

Yarn over one last time.

Step 13

Pull the yarn through the remaining two loops on the hook.

Step 14

This completes the double treble crochet. (For a Double Treble Crochet or Double Post, 4 chains are needed).
