Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Materials, Tips & Abbreviations: 4 mm hook, thick mercerized cotton yarn (cream, pink, brown, green, and a bit of red). sc (single crochet), ch (chain), sl st (slip stitch), inc (increase), hdc (half double crochet), dc (double crochet).
Step 2
Bag (Cream color) - Rnds 1-2: Ch 21. In 2nd ch: 2 sc, 18 sc, 4 sc in last ch. Turn to other side: 18 sc, 2 sc in last ch (44 sc). Rnd 2: 1 sc, 1 inc, 18 sc, 1 inc, 2 sc, 1 inc, 18 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc (48 sc).
Step 3
Bag - Rnds 3-17: Rnds 3 to 16: 1 sc in each st (48 sc). Rnd 17: 2 sc, place stitch marker. Change to Pink, work only in back loops: 1 sc in each remaining st (48 sc).
Step 4
Bag (Pink color) - Rnds 18-26: Rnds 18 to 26: 1 sc in each st (48 sc). Now stop working in rounds to start working in rows.
Step 5
Roof/Flap (Pink) - Rows 27-39: Row 27: 1 sc. Ch 1 and turn, 24 sc. Rows 28 to 33: Ch 1, turn, 24 sc. Rows 34, 36 & 38: Ch 1, turn, work 24 sc ONLY in back loops. Rows 35, 37 & 39: Ch 1, turn, 24 sc.
Step 6
Roof/Flap (Edge) - Row 40: Ch 1 and turn. Work *(1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc + 1 dc + 1 hdc in same st, 1 sc)* repeat 6 times. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Step 7
Strap (Pink): Ch 81. 1 sc in each ch from 2nd (80 sc). Ch 1, turn, 80 sc. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Step 8
Door (Brown): Ch 5. From 2nd ch: 3 sc, 4 sc in last ch. Turn: 3 sc (other side). Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 3 sc, 4 inc, 3 sc. Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 5 sc, 1 inc, 3 sc, 1 inc, 4 sc. Fasten off.
Step 9
Assembly & Details: Sew the strap to the sides. Sew the door to the front. Embroider windows with brown yarn. Use green and red/pink to embroider grass and flowers. Tip: reinforce the inside with felt for stiffness.
