Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Special Stitches and Techniques: Single crochet decrease: Insert hook in next stitch and draw up a loop. Repeat in next stitch. Yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Step 2

Standing single crochet join: Make a slip knot and place it on hook. Insert hook in indicated stitch and draw up a loop. Yarn over and draw through both loops on hook.

Step 3

BAG SIDE (Make 2) - Step 1: Base Start. Ch 2. Row 1 (WS): 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, turn (total: 3 sc).

Step 4

Step 2: Initial Increases. Row 2 (RS): Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in last st, turn (total: 5 sc).

Step 5

Row 3: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, turn (total: 5 sc).

Step 6

Row 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, 2 sc in last st, turn (total: 7 sc). Row 5: Repeat Row 3 (total: 7 sc).

Step 7

Step 3: Continuing Increases. Rows 6-7: Repeat Row 4 (total: 11 sc). Rows 8-31: Alternate between Row 3 and Row 4 until 43 sc are obtained in the final row.

Rows 32-33: Repeat Row 3 (total: 43 sc). Row 34: Repeat Row 4 (total: 45 sc). Rows 35-36: Repeat Row 3 (total: 45 sc). Row 37: Repeat Row 4 (total: 47 sc). Rows 38-45: Repeat Row 3 (total: 47 sc).

Step 9

Upper Right Curve: Row 46: Ch 1, 1 sc in first 23 sts, turn (total: 23 sc). Row 47: Ch 1, sc decrease, 1 sc in each st to last 2 sts, sc decrease, turn (total: 21 sts).

Step 10

Row 48: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st, turn (total: 21 sc). Row 49: Repeat Row 47 (total: 19 sc). Row 50: Repeat Row 48 (total: 19 sc). Rows 51-55: Repeat Row 47 until reaching 9 sc in the last row. Fasten off and cut yarn.

Step 11

Upper Left Curve: Row 46 (RS): Return to Row 45, skip the next st and join with sc in the next st (see Special Techniques). Continue making sc to the end of the row (total: 23 sc).

Step 12

Rows 47-55: Repeat Rows 47-55 of the Upper Right Curve. On the last row, do not cut the yarn, simply turn the work.

Step 13

Bag Border. Round 1 (RS): Ch 1. Work 1 sc in each st of the previous row or in the side of each row. Sc in the first 64 sts.

Step 14

At the bottom of the bag, work 3 sc in the base of the initial chain, placing a marker in the center st of these three. Continue with sc in the remaining 85 sts without turning (total: 152 sc).

Step 15

Round 2: Sl st in the front loop of each sc from the previous round. Move the marker to the central point at the bottom. Fasten off and cut yarn (total: 152 sts).

Step 16

Gusset (Bottom and Sides): Count 46 sts before and after the marked st and place markers at both points. Round 1 (RS): Join yarn with a sc in the marked point on the left side. Work sc around the edge to the marked point on the right side. Turn (total: 93 sc).

Step 17

Rounds 2-3: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across. Turn. On the last round, fasten off and cut yarn.

Step 18

Bag Handle (Make 2): Ch 55. Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end, turn (total: 54 sc). Row 2: Sl st in the front loop of each sc, turn (total: 54 sts).

Step 19

Row 3: Ch 1, work 1 sc in the back loops of each sc from Row 1, turn (total: 54 sc). Row 4: Sl st in the front loop of each sc, fasten off and cut yarn (total: 54 sts).

Step 20

Tassel and Assembly: Wrap yarn 20 times, tie center, and cut one end. Form tassel by wrapping yarn 2 cm from top. Ch 15 and attach to tassel.

Step 21

Assembly: Sew bag sides RS together through gusset. Turn. Sew handles securely. Attach tassel to handle via the 15-ch loop.
